Jeremy Young's Journey

I am a serial entrepreneur who is dedicated to helping other businesses grow and increase their sales, customer base, and profitability. I have had numerous successful startups during my 27+ year career in a variety of industries. My goal is to help your business overcome business obstacles, use my network of programmers and marketers to save costs (sometimes up to 70% savings,) and to reach your objectives. Below is a list of the different businesses that I have created and grown over the past few decades. Contact me today so that we can discuss how I can help you and your business.

Direct Connect, Founder

After getting on the Internet for the first time from my college apartment in 1993, I quickly saw the possibilities of business and communication opportunities. I worked with my current employer, a telemarketing firm with dozens of clients, to create an Internet marketing arm of the company. We created some of the first shopping cart software to allow secure purchases online and worked with Rush Limbaugh, Megahertz Corporation (US Robotics), Proform Fitness, and others to create their web presence and facilitate e-commerce sales. Direct Connect was sold to About.com for 21 million dollars.

Vservers.Com, Founder

One of the original cloud-based web hosting companies in the world that operated in a virtual environment, I helped grow the company to a 10 million dollar run rate and sold the company to Micron Electronics for almost 50 million dollars in December of 1999. The company is now called Web.com, operating out of Florida, and is a major player in the hosting industry.

Superstats / Omniture, Founder

Together with my partners Josh and John, we started one of the first web-based analytics companies for businesses. SuperStats name was changed to a more business-oriented name, Omniture, and went public. Adobe quickly acquired the company after about a year of trading in the public markets and incorporated the technology into its Adobe Experience Cloud.

Uberplay, Founder

Uberplay was a radical idea that we tried to launch a bit too soon before the hardware could support it. Our goal was to create massive RPGs and other types of games on the PocketPC platform. The hardware wasn’t quite powerful enough to do what we set out to accomplish, so after about one year, I pivoted the business to license, develop, and sell tabletop board and card games. I partnered with the Tueber family, who created one of the most popular games in Europe called ‘The Settlers of Catan.’ Over 50 different games were licensed or created, produced in Germany or China, and sold to boardgame fans all over the US and Canada.

Simplyfun, Founder

The biggest challenge in selling board games is getting them in front of someone to play the game. Typically, you don’t go to a store, look at a game and think, “I just have to try that game!” You need social proof, you need a friend to recommend it to you, and you need to play the game. SimplyFun was created as a Party-Plan MLM, allowing hundreds of Funsultants to throw game parties in people’s homes and then take orders onsite. The company received 6M of Venture Funding and is still operating out of Bellevue, Washington.

Platos Closet, Franchisee

My brother and I purchased the franchise rights for the Salt Lake City area and opened three locations in a period of a few years. Platos Closet recycles gently used, name-brand clothing by purchasing clothing from customers and reselling them to others. We have since sold two of the locations and are looking for a buyer for the other.

Tanga, Founder

Tanga was founded on the idea of selling one killer deal every day at the best price you can find anywhere. It quickly expanded to multiple deals a day in different verticals, and then it became a major marketplace of deals selling millions of products, from tens of thousands of drop shippers, to millions of customers. Growth came mainly from affiliate marketing and Google PPC, and at its height, Tanga was doing about 30 million in annual recurring revenue

International Wine Report, Senior Editor

After leaving a fundamental religion where alcohol was forbidden, I decided to dip my toes into the world of wine. I’ve eaten in fine restaurants my entire life but always would order a diet coke as a beverage pairing which I realize now, probably wasn’t the most appropriate thing to do. I fell in love with wine as a way of life, as a culture, as a way to bring people together, and as a way to tell stories. For fun, I earned my Wine and Spirits Education Trust Level 3 with Distinction (WSET3) and started blind-tasting wines with groups of advanced and master sommeliers. I joined the team at International Wine Report focusing on Washington, Oregon, and California wines and have reviewed over 1500 wines over the past few years.
